An 11-year-old boy’s grandmother became sick, so he took matters into his own and drove her to the hospital in a Mercedes-Benz.
PJ Brewer-Laye became a hero on Tuesday in Indianapolis after acting quickly to save his grandmother Angela’s life.
She was walking about a mile and a half from their house when she told 13WTHR that she started feeling shaky and seeing spots in her visions, signs that her blood sugar was getting low.
‘He noticed my demeanor, and right when I was about to go down to the ground, that’s when he springs into action,” she said.
She said that PJ moved fast and before she even had time to think, he was next to her in the driver seat of her car.
‘I was leaning against the stop sign, and all of a sudden, I look to my right, and I see my car, my Mercedes-Benz coming towards me,’ she said. ‘Just in an easy, calm, manner, it was coming towards me. And I looked in the car and it was PJ.’
She said that PJ learned how to drive because her husband has asked him to move cars around in the yard before, but never on the street or by himself.
‘This child is only 11 years old and drives like a pro,’ she said.
Happy Birthday to this little hero!! Last week, PJ saved his Grandmotherâs life – at just 11 years old, he drove her…
Angela went on to say how thankful she was that PJ was so resourceful to be there in her time of need.
‘He’s an extra special little boy,’ she said. ‘He has humble ways. And he doesn’t ask for nothing in return,.’
PJ turned 12 on Wednesday, so his grandmother rewarded him with an early birthday present for his bravery by taking him out for crab legs, his favorite.
