Democrats retain control of House of Representatives in US election

The Democrats will retain control of the House of Representatives over Republicans.

It was announced Tuesday that not only will the Democrats control the House, but they will add at least five more seats.

It takes 218 seats to control the House, and Democrats had previously held control at 232 to 197 Republicans.

Republicans were looking at ousting 29 Democrats in districts where Trump won in 2016, but it seems that will not be the case.

A Democrat majority means that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi will have an easier job of wrangling votes together next year.

There are many House races in the house that have yet to be counted. The election coincides with the US presidential election, with counts on whether Donald Trump or Joe Biden will be named next President of the United States still ongoing.
