The much loved dogs at polling stations trend is back – only this time its happening across the Atlantic.
Brits have taken their pets with them to cast their vote in recent elections, and it appears the tradition is spreading.
Huge queues formed outside polling stations in the US on Tuesday, as the nation decides who will be the next president.
Americans braved long lines and strict coronavirus safety measures to make their choice between incumbent president Donald Trump and Democratic challenger Joe Biden.
Those voting in person join the record 102 million Americans who voted early, with many taking their dogs along for moral support.
It generally takes a few days for results to be fully counted, however, it’s normally clear who the winner is by the early hours of the next morning.
Whether you’re just waking up or have been up all night following the race – here are some of the cutest dogs at polling stations to keep you going.
Election night began with predictable victories for each candidate – with Donald Trump winning Kentucky and Joe Biden taking Vermont.
Mr Biden has taken an early lead but with polls still open in most states, it is still anyone’s game.
Both candidates say they are confident of a win but there is still no clear winner.
Trump has claimed he’s on course for a ‘big WIN’ in a mis-spelt tweet and accused the Democrats of trying to steal it from him.
Moments later, Twitter covered up the tweet with a note saying ‘Some or all of the content shared in this Tweet is disputed and might be misleading about an election or other civic process.’
Speaking on stage, Biden said he is still in the race to win Georgia after he picked up the first two battleground states of the night, Minnesota and New Hampshire.
But races were too early to call in the most fiercely contested and critical states on the map, including North Carolina and Pennsylvania.
Early results in several key battleground states were in flux as election officials processed a historically large number of postal votes.
Biden won California, the nation’s biggest electoral haul, and other predictable victories including Colorado and Virginia, two former battlegrounds that have become Democratic strongholds.
Trump has been buoyed by early results that show the president is outperforming many election predictions, with wins in Kansas, North Dakota and other conservative bastions.
The outcome might not actually be be known for days.
With a long night ahead, lets take a look at some more dogs.
