Emergency crews responding to plane crash at Markham’s Buttonville Airport

York Regional Police say emergency crews are at the scene of a small plane crash at Buttonville Airport in Markham.

Police, paramedics and firefighters were called to the airport, which is located near Highway 404 and 16th Avenue, Tuesday afternoon with reports a plane crashed just north of the property.

A spokesperson for Markham Fire said paramedics treated two people at the scene.

Officers said the Highway 404 northbound off- and on-ramps at 16th Avenue are closed.

A Buttonville Airport spokesperson declined to discuss the incident when contacted by Global News.

The investigation is ongoing.
