A 14 year-old girl did a dance with her 23 year-old brother moments after he shot their mother dead at the dinner table, it was claimed.
The unnamed girl is said to have nodded at sibling Mike Lopez just before he allegedly pulled a gun on Victoria Ramirez, 43, and killed her by shooting her in the neck at their home in Springville, Utah, on Wednesday evening. The siblings then got up and danced in celebration afterwards, it is alleged.
Those disturbing allegations were made by another sibling, a 17 year-old girl, who claims to have witnessed her siblings’ interactions and mother’s murder. The 17 year-old told police she locked herself in a bathroom and jumped out its window afterwards to escape. She ran to an older sister’s house nearby and called police.
She said she believed her 14 year-old sister knew that their older brother was going to kill their mother. The 17 year-old said Lopez had been giving their young sister weed, and that her brother had been ‘meditating a lot where he claims to go to different dimensions and (was) talking about a lot of bad people.’
Police subsequently interviewed the 14 year-old, who smiled and said she ‘remembered dancing’ when asked about her older sister’s claims, ABC4 reported. The younger girl is then said to have tried to sing a song for police, with officers nothing her ‘very strange’ and ’emotionless’ behavior.
She denied being in the room when the shooting happened – and said that the victim was not her mother.
The younger girl also denied knowing what her brother allegedly planned, and claimed he had bought the shotgun used, as well as a handgun, the day before the murder took place.
Lopez is said to have faked his collapse after police arrived at his home, and refused to chat with cops. He was found to have THC – the active ingredient in marijuana – in his system, it is alleged.
The suspected killer is being held in custody on suspicion of murder. Police have yet to say whether the 14 year-old girl will also face charges.
A GoFundMe page set up by the family says they hope to bury Ramirez in Mexico
