Man shot dead after ‘haunted house’ queue row in Michigan

A man has been shot dead in the US in an apparent dispute over queue jumping at a haunted house attraction.

The 29-year-old man died in a car park outside the Erebus Haunted House in Pontiac, southeast Michigan, in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Oakland County Sheriff’s Office said shots were fired after the two men who argued went back to their vehicles.

Witnesses reported hearing shots and saw a blue car speeding away, police said.

Detectives said the man and his girlfriend were standing in line behind the suspected gunman, waiting to enter the haunted house, Click4Detroit said.

The suspect reportedly would not move and accused the victim of attempting to jump the queue.

After they exchanged words, the victim told his girlfriend he was going back to his vehicle, police said.

The suspect also walked to the parking lot, separately from the victim.

The sheriff’s office described the suspect as a thin black man about six-feet tall with a medium complexion.

Detectives published a picture of him showing him wearing an orange hooded sweatshirt and jeans.

The Erebus Haunted House describes itself as a “four-story haunted house tower of terror… serving terrifying thrills, unforgettable moments of laughter, and blood-curdling screams”.
