Detectives have released images of a man accused of breaking into a park before committing ‘unnatural sexual acts’ on two horses – one of them a police animal. The suspect was caught on camera at City Park in New Orleans, Louisiana, in the early hours of December 15.
New Orleans Police Department say that he went on to abuse the two animals shortly after that footage was taken, and that one of the horses was owned by Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office.
The man, who appears to be in his late teens or 20s, was wearing a striped shirt, had a blue surgical facemask pulled down over his chin, and has a distinctive tattoo on his right arm.
New Orleans Police Department Superintendent Shaun Ferguson linked the suspect’s alleged bestiality to ongoing global turmoil over coronavirus.
He told Nola.com the ‘very disturbing’ act was ‘kind of a sign of the times right now.’ Ferguson added: ‘We’re seeing things that we’re probably, pretty much not used to seeing, in 2020
The man being sought by police faces a charge of sexual abuse of an animal. He faces up to 10 years behind bars because the incident is said to have involved two animals.
Louisiana created a stand-alone bestiality law in 2018 after an anti-sodomy law that previously included offenses against animals was deemed unconstitutional.
