School board president resigns over wife's racist remarks about Kamala Harris

A school board president has resigned over his wife’s racist remarks about the new Vice President-elect Kamala Harris.

Jon Venverloh announced on Sunday that he was stepping down from his job at Las Lomitas Elementary School in San Francisco, California, after his wife Mehridith Philips’ inflammatory remarks.

‘All she needs to be qualified is a black p***y,’ she wrote. ‘No brain needed.’

Philips’ added, ‘The possibilities are endless for little girls that whore their way to the top.’

She also made a second Twitter post about Harris’s gender, saying: ‘Is she a woman?’ Philips wrote. ‘I wasn’t sure what her pronouns are.’

Dozens of parents responded in anger to Philips statement, leading Venverloh to resign.

‘I know that my continued service would be a distraction from the work that needs to be done,’ he said.

He said he did not agree with his wife’s ‘reprehensible views’ and called her words ‘vulgar.’

Philips wrote an apology and blamed her remarks on a ‘debilitating neurological disease.’

‘I am deeply sorry and ashamed,’ she wrote. ‘I believe that the change in medication reduced my judgment between right and wrong when I made the posts.’

Her Twitter account has been deleted since she posted the messages, but many people took screenshots of them.

Venverloh is a supporter of Donald Trump a former Google executive who was elected to the school board in 2018. He had two years left to his term prior to his resignation.

The school board condemned his wife’s remarks as ‘racially-based and gender-based hatred.’

Kamala Harris is the highest-ranking woman ever to be elected to the US government. Harris, the daughter of a Jamaican professor and Indian biologist, is also now the world’s most powerful woman of color.
