A 26 year-old teacher took a 16 year-old boy to her house – then raped him, police say. Andee Lantz had sex with her alleged victim on two or three occasions, and also sent him a nude photo of herself, it is claimed.
Lantz, a former teacher at Carnegie High School in Caddo County, Oklahoma, was charged with rape earlier this month, and appeared in court last Wednesday. She is said to have been confronted about rumors of an inappropriate relationship with the boy in mid-November.
Both Lantz and the youngster are said to have initially denied the claims. But Lantz later began to open up and admitted she’d groomed the boy after riding around in a car with him after a homecoming game, it is alleged.
She is said to have told investigators that the boy ‘leaned in and kissed her and it went from there.’ Lantz brought the youngster back to her house, for the first of multiple rapes she now stands accused of inflicting on him.
The age of consent in Oklahoma is 16, but adults in a position of authority can still be charged with raping teenagers over that age who are in their care.
Susan Clark, whose child attends Carnegie High School, told NewsChannel9 of how rumors had spiraled into a criminal charge.
She said: ‘One of the students had been circulating a nude picture of her.
‘In the beginning I didn’t know if it was a rumor, I called a couple other moms and they said it was true,
‘It makes me sick to my stomach. A teacher should not be hanging out with a high school student, period.
‘I don’t think this type of behavior should be tolerated, whether from a male or female teacher.’
Lantz quit her job in mid-November, shortly after the allegations surfaced. She faces a single count of second-degree rape.
