Opinion | As Texas Reopens From Covid

To the Editor:

Re “Texas to Fully Open, Hastening a Drive to Ease Limits” (front page, March 3):

So let’s see: The governor of Texas opens up too soon in the first phase of Covid, and Texans die unnecessarily. Then, the Texas power grid goes down, which was predictable, and Gov. Greg Abbott incorrectly blames renewable energy sources, and more Texans die unnecessarily.

Now, despite the pleading of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for restraint, Mr. Abbott rescinds the mask mandate and opens businesses, with the likely result that even more Texans will die unnecessarily.

Let’s hear it for Greg Abbott and Texas; independence and personal freedoms trump science and reason, again and again and again.
