Nuclear submarine decision by Australia reflects deep anxiety about China

SYDNEY – In June, Australia’s Prime Minister Scott Morrison was expected to hold a much-anticipated private meeting with United States President Joe Biden during a Group of Seven summit in Cornwall when the pair were “gatecrashed” by British Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

The seemingly unexpected appearance of Mr Johnson was seen as a whimsical intrusion by the British leader, or possibly as a snub by the US leader towards Mr Morrison over their differences on climate change.
