An ambulance was flipped over and into a ditch in a collision with a lorry on a motorway in Hampshire this morning.
The incident happened on the M3 in Winchester between junctions eight and nine at around 11.15am.
Both the lorry and ambulance drivers were rushed to hospital with injuries following the crash.
In pictures of from the scene the emergency vehicle can be seen on its side on a grassy verge next to the roadside while the lorry has serious damage to its front including a smashed windscreen.
The ambulance was not carrying any patients at the time.
Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service has urged drivers to avoid the area, with the accident causing long delays northbound near Popham, Winchester.
Three fire crews were called to the scene and have closed off a section of the road.
A spokesman for South Central Ambulance Service said the two drivers suffered minor injuries.
A Hampshire Constabulary spokesman said: ‘We were called at 11.13am today to a report of a collision involving a lorry and an ambulance between junctions 9 and 8 of the M3 northbound.
‘Both lanes are blocked and the road was closed while officers attended the scene.’
