The Duke of Sussex stepped down as a member of the Royal Family last year and moved to California with his wife Meghan Markle. But the couple, who claimed they wanted a private life, has been widely criticised for various publicity stunts and speaking out against the Firm.
Last month, the couple shocked the world when they sat down with US media mogul Oprah Winfrey.
They made several explosives accusations about their time as members of the Royal Family and sparked a crisis for the Queen and the Firm.
But now, royal expert Gyles Brandreth has warned Harry and Meghan should follow Philip’s mantra of not talking about oneself.
Writing in the Radio Times, Mr Brandreth revealed the Duke of Edinburgh was interested in the work of Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung.
He wrote: “The happiest people were those who were least introspective, the people who didn’t look down and in, but up and out.
“‘Don’t be self-absorbed’, Philip said.
“‘Be absorbed in the world around you. It’s more interesting’.”
Mr Brandreth added how Philip’s fractured childhood allowed him to learn that “these things happen” and how you have “just got to get on with it”.
He argued how certain members of the Royal Family should follow this mantra these days.
The royal expert added: “The stiff upper lip may not be fashionable nowadays, but it stood him in good stead.
“Lord Lewin, who had served with him in the navy and later became Chief of the Defence Staff, told me that if the Duke of Edinburgh had been able to continue his naval career ‘he’d have gone right to the top, no question’.
“But if the Duke had regrets, he wouldn’t share them.

“That was not his style.”
Following their explosive interview with Oprah, the hashtag #AbolishtheMonarchy began trending on Twitter.
In the interview, Meghan claimed there were conversations about the colour of Archie’s skin colour before he was born.
Harry also added how he was “cut off” financially from his father Prince Charles.
Meghan said felt suicidal during her 18-months as a royal.
Following the bombshell interview, the Queen issued a statement and claimed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will always “be much-loved family members”.
The statement read: “The whole family is saddened to learn the full extent of how challenging the last few years have been for Harry and Meghan.
“The issues raised, particularly that of race, are concerning.
“While some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately.
“Harry, Meghan and Archie will always be much-loved family members.”
For the first time since last March, Harry reunited with his family at Prince Philip’s funeral and reportedly spoke privately with his brother, Prince William, and father, Prince Charles.
Meghan, who is heavily pregnant, did not attend the funeral.
