Armed police rush to residential road after man slashed in face

Armed police have swarmed an area and a helicopter is hovering overheard after a man had his face slashed on a quiet street this morning. The 25-year-old victim of the attack is reported to have suffered “serious facial injuries” and was taken to hospital.

Police were called to the scene in Milton Road, Widnes, Cheshire, just before 8.30am following reports of a “disturbance”.

They have closed Milton Road from the junction with Milton Avenue and Lower House Lane, at The Cricketer’s Arms pub, to the junction with Caldwell Road.

There are no reports of anyone else, apart from the 25-year-old man, being injured in the attack.

Cheshire Police has confirmed that it attended the scene shortly before 8.30am following reports of a ‘disturbance’.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: “Officers were called at 8.25am today, Friday, March 31, following reports of a disturbance on Milton Road, Widnes.

“Patrols, supported by firearms officers, swiftly attended the scene and found a 25-year-old man with serious facial injuries.

“He was taken to hospital where his condition is not believed to be life-threatening.

“Enquiries in relation to the incident are ongoing.”
