The Prime Minister on Monday announced the UK would be entering a three-week lockdown, and ordered the closure of all non-essential businesses. But as shoppers continue to panic buy, supermarket home delivery slots have been running out as quickly as they are released.
If you buy online, make sure to check minimum spends and delivery fees as supermarkets will often set limits on how much you can spend.
When your delivery arrives, it may be substituted with alternative stock if some items you ordered have since gone out of stock.
Make sure to let your supermarket know you are self isolating upon delivery, so that they can make the appropriate adjustments and leave your order outside the door if necessary.

When are Asda delivery slots released?
You can book a delivery slot, or click and collect service via the Asda website.
In London, slots went as far as March 31 but were all fully booked, but check your area as availability will depend on location.

It’s worth keeping an eye on the website to see when the delivery slots will be released, check back every day.
Asda are rationing their products and customers can only buy three of anything, across all food items, toiletries and cleaning products, and they have a minimum spend in place of £40.
The retail giant is also asking customers to shop in-store where possible so that delivery slots can be reserved for those most in need, like the elderly or people with a compromised immune system.

What are supermarkets doing to stop panic buying?
Rules have been relaxed by the government to allow supermarkets to work together.
This means that they can share resources, delivery depots and vans, as well as staff in an effort to provide the best available service to customers.
Rules around drivers’ hours have been relaxed, and the 5p plastic bag charge has gone, to speed up deliveries.
Members of the British Retail Consortium penned an open letter to the public urging them to stop panic buying.
The letter read: “We know that many of you are worried about the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).
“We want to let you know that we are doing everything we can so that you and your families have the food and essentials you need.
“But we need your help too. We would ask everyone to be considerate in the way they shop.
“We understand your concerns, but buying more than is needed can sometimes mean that others will be left without.
“There is enough for everyone if we all work together. Together we can make sure we are looking out for family, friends and neighbours.
“Together we will care for those around us and those who are elderly, vulnerable or choosing to remain at home.”
Secretary of State for the Environment George Eustace said: “I fully support the call from British food retailers urging us all to be considerate in the way we shop and look out for our neighbours.
“By working together, our leading supermarkets have provided the reassurance there is plenty of stock available and people should buy products as they normally would.
“We are in regular contact with the food industry and retailers are continuing to monitor their supply chains and are taking all the necessary steps to ensure consumers have the food and supplies they need.”
