A BINMAN kicked the boot of a car parked in a driveway after he got into an argument between several people.
Robert Morrison (28) had been drinking and vented his anger on the car.
Judge John Hughes said the defendant’s behaviour was “very mean-spirited”. He ordered him to pay €600 compensation to the injured party and adjourned the matter to a date next month.
The defendant, of Bawnlea Drive, Tallaght, admitted criminal damage at Sundale Lawns, Tallaght, on January 21 last year.
Gda John Ryan told Tallaght District Court there was a row between a number of people at a house at Sundale Lawns, and as Morrison was leaving he kicked the boot lid of a car parked in the driveway.
Gda Ryan also said there was a small crack to the car’s rear window.
The court heard the defendant’s former girlfriend had been living in the house at the time.
She had wanted to go to bed, and Morrison had not been let into the house.
Defence lawyer Stephen Montgomery said all the parties had been drinking.
They had been at the defendant’s sister’s home and had returned to the victim’s home, where the drinking continued.
Mr Montgomery said there was a row and Morrison vented his anger.
He was working as a binman and had one child.
Mr Montgomery said the defendant had an issue with alcohol in the past but was no longer drinking.
