A body was found dumped in a recycling bin by a shocked member of the public this morning, March 17.

Emergency services rushed to the scene shortly after 6am and confirmed the grim discovery.

There are no details about whether the person found is a man, woman, or child at this stage, reports The Mirror.

There is a cordon in place around Newby and Scalby Village Hall and Scalby Tennis Courts in Scarborough and people are advised to avoid the area.

A North Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: “Police, Fire and Ambulance services attended and are currently at the scene.

“Enquiries are ongoing, but officers do not believe there are any suspicious circumstances around the incident.”
