A cordon has been set up on Boaler Street, with a number of police at the scene.

The Royal Logistics Corp bomb disposal team arrived at the scene just before 3pm this afternoon.

Residents in the area have been informed that they are unable to return home yet as police continue their investigations into the attack at the hospital.

Sutcliffe Street has also had a cordon set up, according to Counter Terrorism Policing North West.

The cordon was put in place as police investigated items which were found inside the property.

Counter Terrorism Policing North West tweeted: “Officers in Merseyside have extended a cordon on Sutcliffe Street in the Kensington area to allow officers to make an assessment of materials found in a property that we’ve been searching.

“This is only as a precaution and we will provide updates when we have them.”
