Following the announcement from Prime Minister Boris Johnson where he confirmed that the majority of lockdown restrictions would be thrown away on July 19, talkRADIO host Mark Dolan launched an impromptu speech expressing his joy over the news. But he slammed Mr Johnson for “finally” finding “a backbone” with the announcement, delivering on a promise to bring an end to the covid “national nightmare”.
Mr Dolan slammed: “The Prime Minister has confirmed that all covid restrictions will be lifted on the 19th of July.
“But the Prime Minister has been true to his libertarian principles and we are now just weeks away from the great unlock.
“And it’s the real deal! It’s the real deal!
“Restrictions on businesses, gone! Restrictions on numbers meeting up, gone!

He proclaimed: “This is it, folks, the war on Covid is over!
“We have witnessed today a bonfire of the inanities.”

And in a skewering stab at Boris Johnson, Dolan quipped: “The Prime Minister has found a backbone and freedom beckons.
“On the 19th of July we basically become Sweden… And Boris Johnson had the meatballs to make it happen!
“Rejoice folks, yes we must ensure none of this nonsense returns…
“But our long national nightmare is over!”

The Prime Minister used a televised coronavirus briefing on Monday evening to explain his plans for Stage 4 of his roadmap out of lockdown for England.
The wide-reaching changes include the ending of compulsory mask-wearing in public spaces, the scrapping of social distancing, the lifting of limits on social gatherings and in venues, re-opening of nightclubs and the end of the working from home guidance.
Self-isolation orders for those who test positive would continue, Mr Johnson said, but he suggested there would soon be new rules for fully-vaccinated contacts.
Social distancing will continue to be required when arriving in the UK and going through customs checks, with officials saying the measures will help stop the spread of any potential mutant strains from amber and red list countries.
Mr Johnson will hold another televised briefing next Monday when he will confirm if the July 19 unlocking can go ahead as planned.
