Speaking from the House of Commons today, Boris Johnson has announced a hike to National Insurance by 1.25 percent. This is aimed at helping Social Care, and a large portion of the extra funds will go towards the NHS. Breaking his 2019 manifesto, Mr Johnson’s Social Care reform has been hit by frustration. But another thing has caught the eye of viewers, the bright green pin on Mr Johnson’s lapel.

What does the green ‘M’ pin on the PM’s jacket mean?

Standing out from the PM’s navy blue suit during his speech today was a bright green pin on his lapel.

The Prime Minister’s pin is a MacMillan badge, a charity which supports charity sufferers.

Costing £3.50 from the MacMillan website, the pin features the letter ‘M’ on a green background.

MacMillan is a charity dedicated to helping those who are diagnosed with cancer.

In the about me section on its website, Macmillan says: “Macmillan Cancer Support improves the lives of people affected by cancer. One in three of us will get cancer.

“We are all affected by cancer. We can all help. We are Macmillan.”
