Laura Dodsworth pulled no punches, declaring that the bashes only served as a distraction to deflect from the real problems such as starvation. Boris Johnson has been facing growing pressure as more allegations of partying during lockdown emerged after he insisted he had no knowledge of partying. Even though Ms Dodsworth can see people are eager to feed off controversial “scotch egg” stories and do their “baying for blood”, she felt that they are missing the point.

Talking to Mike Graham on TalkRADIO, she insisted that the party scandals in Britain should not get the nod ahead of how much lockdowns affected poverty-stricken nations around the world.

She said: “They were suffering in this country but in the global south, millions of people went hungry!

“So if you are a street vendor, social distancing doesn’t work.

“Your business is based on proximity. If you are a farmer in the global south, you have to drive your goods to markets or again they go to waste and you starve. Lockdown was always the most insane middle-class luxury imaginable.

“So millions of sides have truly, truly suffered.

“Can we talk about what else has happened?

“What is really wrong is the insanity of the lockdown rules and the suffering they caused.

“And I truly think for a lot of this focus on the hypocrisy of the party is about avoiding the fact that people weren’t looking at the right issues until now.”

Boris Johnson is ‘toast’ says Nigel Farage

“Yes, it was wrong [but] let’s let that chunk on in the background but what else is going on right now that is unfair.

“So the journalists who are obsessing over this scotch egg of a story are they talking about all the actual blood that was spilled because of lockdowns?

“Because literally millions of people have been hungry or starved because of lockdowns!”

Filmmaker and actor Ms Dodsworth told Mr Graham that she is “sick” of perpetual party stories which have become an unpleasant “distraction”.

But even though she is fed up with reading about the party claims that have engulfed Boris Johnson and company, she touched on them, saying that they pale in comparison to the “byzantine, cruel and ridiculous” lockdowns rules that were in place which should have been the single most important topic at the time given how badly they affected everyone.

Without ever referring to Boris Johnson, she was desperate to show everything that is wrong about holding a party during a lockdown and its excessive coverage.

She said: “Fault one is hypocrisy. Bad, I don’t like hypocrisy, British like, fair play.

“Fault two is punish them baying for blood! And there’s lots of journalists who are most definitely in this stage. A little bit of hypocrisy there maybe?

“Fault three is: Oh, hang on. Wasn’t it terribly dangerous? Oh, were they not scared to be at parties?

“Fault four is: Oh, all that fear mongering. The punitive fines which they haven’t had yet for Downing Street parties but lots of other people did.

“Was the risk not actually equally applied to all of us? No, it wasn’t!”
