Boy arrested after threatening market stallholder with knife

A 12-year-old boy has been arrested after a stallholder was threatened with a large knife. Essex Police confirmed the boy was arrested on suspicion of robbery after the incident at Pitsea Market, Essex. Officers attended the scene after reports of a robbery shortly after 12pm on Saturday and carried out a widespread search for the suspect. 

Two others have also been arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply controlled drugs.

All three were released on conditional bail whilst police continue their enquiries. 

In a statement, the force said: “Officers were quickly on the scene and carried out a widespread search for the suspect. 

 

The victim of the attack was not injured but police said he was “understandably shaken”. 

Police are now appealing for anyone with information to come forward about the incident. 

They are asking for anyone with dashcam, mobile of CCTV footage in the area to get in touch citing incident 527 of February 25.
