British tourist, 33, found dead after 'drowning' off the coast of Ibiza

A British tourist is understood to have died after drowning off the coast of Ibiza.

The 33-year-old, who hasn’t been named, was spotted ‘lifeless’ in the water in the upmarket Cala Jondal in San Jose.

Emergency services had been called to the scene around 3.15pm today.

It is unclear if the tourist, who was found near a popular cove area, was alone or with family.

A police investigation will soon be underway to establish the cause of death.

MailOnline reports that lifeguards got the man to a nearby boat and tried to revive him.

Paramedics then rushed to the scene and attempted to give further treatment.

Despite their best efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The area is popular tourists, with several high-profile events and parties taking place in recent years.

Kate Middleton’s uncle Gary Goldsmith is still believed to own a mansion called Maison de Bang Bang at Cala Jondal.

The popular cove is also home to famous beach restaurants like Blue Marlin.
