A planned development in Gondar Gardens, Camden was met with fury from locals who accused the council of “turning London into a s*****le” as the recorded meeting captured two women enraged over the plans. Four new three-storey homes are set to be built in the area with locals opposing the plans as they argued it would block out natural light entering their homes. But the meeting soon spiralled out of control as objectors were furious at their speech being limited to just a few minutes before swearing at councillors and telling them they were “destroying a beautiful town” with one objector throwing a chair.

Attendees were told at the start of the meeting that it would be recorded and shared with the public.

However, this did not dissuade two attendees which led to Camden Council editing their recordings to remove the outburst from their streams.

As one woman finished her statement so another could begin hers, the chair of the meeting told the pair they had run out of time which was met with exasperation.

The first speaker raged and shouted down the microphone she could not believe she was given only two minutes to make her point and thought she and her fellow objector could be allowed more time.

The second speaker then continued on with her speech regardless as the chair and the previous speaker continued to argue over time.

The second objector was also heard shouting down the microphone that the construction of the new buildings would cut off light entering her home and that things would be “so drastic” she would have to consider moving.

The local then began banging the table and raised her voice even louder telling the council she saw bats in the area of the development and called it the “most moving manifestation of nature I’ve ever seen”.

Other attendees were left shellshocked as one tried to calm down the second speaker who claimed her flat would “collapse” because of the building work.

Camden Council attempted to cut out some of the outbursts from their live stream but the long-winded and angry opposition continued on as one of the women said: “I hope all you b*****ds have a brick wall up against your windows.”

One of the objectors then asked how councillors could sleep at night as she threw a chair at them and left.

The objection from locals read: “The scheme would block our main source of light and render our flat much darker.

“It is shocking and appalling that the planning officer didn’t even bother to do a site visit and considers the loss of daylight ‘’immaterial’.

“By granting this application the planning committee would deprive us of light (and the other three residents on the south side) and spoil our enjoyment of our home to the degree where we would have to consider moving out.”

Those who watched the outburst were split between supporting the women’s fight against the council and condemning the violent and angry behaviour.

One wrote: “I totally understand her rage, property developers are stressing us for more than a year.

“My walls are shaking, drilling, banging plus workers shouting to each other the entire day. You can’t make a phone call for work or hear yourself thinking.”

Another added: “There’s no excuse for this behaviour, it reeks of entitlement. I hope they ban her from every public meeting.”
