A source has claimed there is concern in the Royal Household over the content of Prince Harry’s announced memoir. One of the people who could be damaged by the book is Camilla, according to a source.

Speaking to the MailOnline, the source claimed Harry and Camilla never built a strong bond.

They said: “Let’s be honest, Harry has never been close to the Duchess of Cornwall.

“If he documents their fraught relationship in the book it could be very damaging at a time when Charles is laying the groundwork for her to become Queen.”

However, Harry spoke candidly about his relationship with the Duchess of Cornwall in 2005, saying both he and Prince William “loved her to bits”.

Then 21 years old, Harry said the Duchess of Cornwall was “a wonderful woman and she’s made our father very, very happy, which is the most important thing”.

He continued: “William and I love her to bits.

“To be honest with you, she’s always been very close to me and William… but no, she’s not the wicked stepmother. I’ll say that right now.”

Moreover, after announcing it for the first time in 2005, Clarence House stated once again in 2020 Camilla will not take the title of Queen Consort when Charles ascends to the throne.

They told the Daily Star: “The intention is for The Duchess to be known as Princess Consort when The Prince ascends the throne.”

The source also said Charles feels “so let down” by the breakdown of the relationship with his younger son.

They said: “Prince Charles didn’t know anything about it [the book].

“This is really painful, it’s going to be difficult for him to take.

“The assumption is that he will take another kicking from Harry.

“The real disappointing thing for Charles is that he used to get on with Harry so well, actually far better than William.

“He feels so let down by the whole thing.” has contacted Clarence House for comment.

Harry informed his close relatives “very recently” that he has been working on a memoir for several months.

Newsweek royal correspondent Jack Royston tweeted: “I’m told by a spokesperson that Prince Harry has told his family privately about the book, very recently.”

The work in progress was announced on Monday and is expected to be released in late 2022 also as an audiobook.

In a statement published on – the Sussexes’ organisation – the memoir is described as “intimate and heartfelt” and is set to cover Harry’s life from his childhood to his tours in Afghanistan to his new life in California.

The statement added: “Prince Harry will offer an honest and captivating personal portrait — one that shows readers that behind everything they think they know lies an inspiring, courageous, and uplifting human story.”

Speaking about the book, Harry himself said he is not writing it as “the prince I was born but as the man I have become”.

He added: “I’ve worn many hats over the years, both literally and figuratively, and my hope is that in telling my story — the highs and lows, the mistakes, the lessons learned — I can help show that no matter where we come from, we have more in common than we think.

“I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity to share what I’ve learned over the course of my life so far and excited for people to read a firsthand account of my life that’s accurate and wholly truthful.”
