Prince Charles has eagerly awaited the throne since he was a child. In 2011, he became the longest-serving heir apparent in British history. When Queen Elizabeth II either steps down or passes away he will ascend the throne and become sovereign with Camilla by his side.
Buckingham Palace has previously stated Camilla will be known as Princess Consort instead of Queen.
Yet, the Duchess of Cornwall’s son, Tom Parker Bowles, said there could be a chance she receives the title of Queen because her role has not yet been decided.
Despite this, at least one member of Camilla’s family is vehemently against the idea of her taking on the role.
In her book, ‘The Duchess’, royal biographer Penny Junor suggested the Duchess’ family fear the potential handover of power.
She wrote: “At least one member of her family doesn’t want her to become Queen for fear of a backlash.”
The family member told Ms Junor: “I think it would be better for her if she became Princess Consort.
“I do so want her to be all right and I do worry that she won’t be.
“How is she going to be judged?”

Ms Junor gave her opinion on the matter, and said: “I have little doubt that Charles is so proud of Camilla, and so grateful for everything she has done for him and sacrificed for him, that he will insist she gets the full title.
“Friends and family know it is not something she wants – she has said as much.
“She is in this position because of her love of the man, not because of her desire to be anything more than a support to him.
“The whole business of his accession is something she dreads and, in her inimitable way, is choosing not to think about.”

Meanwhile, speaking to The Times, Camilla’s son said: “I honestly don’t know if Mum will be called Queen.
“That hasn’t been decided.
“There are lots of interesting Sky documentaries about that I’m sure, but I honestly don’t know if that’s true.”
When Charles and Camilla announced their wedding plans in 2005, the Palace said: “It is intended that Mrs Parker Bowles should use the title HRH The Princess Consort when the Prince of Wales ascends the Throne.”
The pair’s romantic timeline goes back to the early Seventies when they met at a polo match at Windsor Great Park.
They began dating but, shortly after, Charles left Britain to serve in the Royal Navy for eight months.
By the time he returned Camilla was engaged to another man, Andrew Parker Bowles.
In 1995, Camilla and Andrew divorced, and a year later Charles and Princess Diana ended their marriage.
The pair are widely known to have had an extra-marital affair in the years before.
Charles hosted a 50th birthday party for Camilla in 1997 and slowly introduced her as his girlfriend, a campaign which was paused following the tragic death of Diana in August of that year.
Just the following year, he gradually resumed the process of legitimising his relationship.
