The number of people who reached British shores so far this year has already exceeded the entire 2020. Home Secretary Priti Patel stressed her “unwavering determination to stop these dangerous crossings”.

In total, 378 people were detained for attempting to cross the Channel by UK authorities.

France stopped another 178 migrants.

Figures show that, as of last week, 8,452 people have crossed over and reached the UK this year.

This number exceeds the figure for the entire year of 2020 when 8,452 migrants crossed the Channel.
