Donald Trump says 'I hope he wasn't hurt' after Joe Biden falls at graduation

Ex-President Donald Trump broke from his regular routine of bashing his successor Joe Biden and offered some nice words when the country’s commander-in-chief fell at a graduation ceremony.

President Biden, 80, tripped and dropped to the ground on stage after handing out the last diploma at a US Air Force Academy graduation in Colorado on Thursday.

Trump was speaking at his own campaign event in Grimes, Iowa, when a supporter informed him of Biden’s incident.

‘He actually fell down?’ said Trump. ‘WelI, I hope he wasn’t hurt, I hope he wasn’t hurt.’

Trump then digressed into his 2020 viral moment when he gave a commencement speech at the military academy in West Point and descended down a ramp slowly, drawing some speculation that he had health issues.

‘Look, the whole thing is crazy,’ Trump said. ‘You gotta be careful about that because you don’t want that, even if you have to tip-toe down a ramp.’

The crowd erupted in laughter.

‘It’s like an ice skating rink,’ Trump continued. ‘That was the best speech I’ve ever made and it was pouring rain.’

He added that he told a general, ‘”Get ready if I grab you, you just get ready because I got this stupid ramp that somebody put up, and there’s no stairs,” right, and so I tip-toe down and I suffered.’

Trump then went back to Biden’s fall, saying, ‘But that’s too bad, if he fell it’s too bad.’

He wasn’t the only Republican presidential candidate that held back on criticizing the Democratic president. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, the clear second to frontrunner Trump for the 2024 GOP nomination, wished the best for Biden but also attacked his leadership.

‘I don’t know if he sustained injuries, but I just want to say that we hope and wish Joe Biden a swift recovery from any injuries he may have sustained,’ said DeSantis during his campaign stop in New Hampshire.

‘But we also wish the United States of America a swift recovery from the injuries sustained because of Joe Biden and his policies.’

Biden was quickly helped up by aides and pointed to a black sandbag that he stumbled over.

‘He’s fine,’ tweeted White House communications director Ben LaBolt. ‘There was a sandbag on stage while he was shaking hands.’

Biden has fallen or had near-falls numerous times that have raise concerns around whether he is fit to serve another term.
