The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have their hands full after welcoming their second child Lilibet “Lili” Diana Mountbatten-Windsor on Friday, June 4. The Sussexes have been settling into life as a family of four in their home in California and Meghan’s mother has been on hand to cherish the special moments, according to an insider.

The 64-year-old lives in LA around 1.5 hours drive to Meghan’s Santa Barbara pad and the Duke and Duchess are extremely thankful to have her around.

As well as their newborn daughter the couple have two-year-old Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.

A source told US weekly: “Meghan’s so grateful to have her mum to lean on, and Harry just adores her.”

Meghan and Harry have been showered in baby gifts for Lili, but they have been most appreciative of the time spent between grandma and granddaughter.

The insider said: “They’ve had lots of lovely gifts sent from friends and family members including Doria.

“But the most special thing she’s provided is her time.”

Doria, a yoga teacher, is said to be “hands-on” and has also been helping out around the house.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are yet to release any pictures of their newborn to the disappointment of royal watchers.

But Lili is said to take after both her parents,

A source added: “They are so in love with her, and she’s absolutely beautiful.

“She’s a cross between Harry and Meghan.”

Meghan and Harry gave a special nod to both Princess Diana and the Queen in naming their second child.

Lili has Harry’s late mother as her middle name, while Lilibet is a nickname used by family members for the Queen.

Meghan’s mother may have missed out on a formal name tribute, but unlike others members of The Firm, she appears to have unlimited access to the family.

The Queen and other members of the Royal Family have not seen Meghan or their two-year-old son Archie in-person for more than a year following Megxit.

The Queen is believed to have held a video called with Lili after Meghan and Harry returned home from the hospital.

Prince Charles described the arrival of his fifth grandchild as “such happy news” during a tour of a BMW Mini factory on Tuesday.

Harry’s father somehow managed to weave in the latest royal birth as he spoke about the importance of greener vehicles.

Charles said: “The development of technology like electric vehicles… is vital for maintaining the health of our world for future generations, something I am only too aware of today, having recently become a grandfather for the fifth time.

“Such happy news really does remind one of the necessity of continued innovation in this area, especially around sustainable battery technology, in view of the legacy we bequeath to our grandchildren.”
