A teenage boy has died following a crash with a car while he was riding an e-scooter in south-east London.
The collision happened in Southborough Lane in Bromley in the early hours of this morning, with police called at 1.20am.
A 16-year-old boy, who had been riding the e-scooter, was found with serious injuries.
He was rushed to a central London hospital where he died.
The driver of the car, a red Fiat Punto, did not stop at the scene following the collision. The vehicle was later found in Southwood Close, Bromley.
A 20-year-old man, who was driving the car, has been arrested on suspicion of failing to stop at the scene of a collision, causing death by dangerous driving and providing a positive alcohol breath test.
He is currently being questioned in custody.
Officers are also appealing for information on the e-scooter, which is believed to have been stolen from the scene.
Met Police added: ‘A dark-coloured people carrier type car with a sliding door was seen in the area and officers are keen to speak to the occupants in relation to this aspect of their investigation.’
Officers are urging anyone with information to come forward.
