Euro 2020: England fined £25,630 over laser pointer incident during Denmark semi-final

The English Football Association has been fined £25,630 after a laser pointer was shone at the Denmark goalkeeper during England’s Euro 2020 semi-final game.

Fans shone a laser at Kasper Schmeichel during the match on Wednesday and booed the Scandinavian country’s national anthem.

A laser pointer was directed at Schmeichel before he saved Harry Kane’s extra-time penalty – only for the England captain to score the rebound.

The fine, confirmed by European governing body UEFA, also takes into account disturbances during the national anthems at Wembley and the setting off of fireworks inside the stadium.
