The lucky winner matched the five EuroMillions numbers as well as the two Lucky Star numbers. EuroMillions tickets are sold in nine countries, being the UK, France, Spain, Austria, Belgium, Luxembourg, the Irish Republic, Portugal and Switzerland.

After collecting their winnings, the ticket holder took home a total of £122,550,350.80.

The EuroMillions numbers were 04, 21, 34, 40, 47, and the Lucky Star numbers were 02 and 05.

The win would take them into the Sunday Times top 1,000 richest people list from 2020.

Camelot’s Andy Carter, senior winners’ adviser at The National Lottery, said: “What brilliant news, one UK winner has scooped tonight’s massive £122 million EuroMillions jackpot.

“They are now the fifth biggest ever National Lottery winner.”

It marks the fifth-highest jackpot EuroMillions has ever paid out.

The UK’s largest ever win was £170 million in October 2019, with the UK winner choosing to stay anonymous.

The second highest went to Colin and Chris Weir, from North Ayrshire, Scotland, in 2011.

The pair took home £161 million, and said the money changed their lives.

In July 2011, he said: “When we first realised we had won, it felt like a dream.

“Everything went into slow motion. But it feels like a good thing, something we should not be afraid of but for us to enjoy with the children.”

The couple unfortunately divorced in 2019, and Mr Weir died on December 27, 2020.

Mr Weir spent £40 million over eight years, at a rate of almost £100,000.

Other UK winners include Adrian and Gillian Bayford from Suffolk, who took home £148 million in 2012.

The fourth highest UK payout was £123 million to an anonymous Brit in 2019

The biggest ever EuroMillions winner was for a Swiss ticket holder.

They took home 210 million euros in February, equal to around £180 million.
