The Scottish First Minister accused Boris Johnson of being a “charlatan” following the Government’s reported plan to rip-up the Brexit Withdrawal Agreement ahead of the next round of trade talks. Confronted on Nicola Sturgeon’s reaction by Sky News host Kay Burley, Environment Secretary George Eustice said: “Nicola Sturgeon is reacting in a way you might expect to a news story that’s in the Financial Times today.

“The point that I would make is that we are still working through the details with the Joint Committee on making the Northern Ireland protocol work.

“We’re absolutely committed to it. It’s part of the withdrawal agreement.

“But where there are legal ambiguities at the end of that on things like exit declarations and things like that, we may need to provide businesses with the certainty they need.”
