Tragedy struck as a girl, 14, and a man, 58, were killed in a house fire this morning.
The blaze broke out at a property in Distington, Cumbria just before 5am.
The victims died at the scene at Toll Bar Houses.
Nearby homes were evacuated and there are no further reported injuries.
The cause is unknown and Police and Cumbria Fire & Rescue Service are working together to investigate.
Drivers have been asked to avoid the area as emergency services continue to deal with the devastating incident.
A number of roads remain closed, including the A595 southbound between the roundabout near Dobies’ dealership and the roundabout at Howgate.
The A597 is closed between the roundabout near to the Toyota dealership and the junction of Hallywood Road.
Meanwhile, the B5306 is closed between the roundabout near to the Toyota dealership and the junction of Barfs Road.
The North West Ambulance Service has been contacted for comment.
