A manhunt is underway after a schoolgirl was allegedly raped as she walked through a park in north London.
The girl, who is 14, called a relative following the attack which happened when she was approached by a man who tried to talk to her.
They then contacted police to tell them about the alleged rape at Chestnuts Park in Haringey at 7.10pm yesterday evening.
Police set up a cordon around the scene, which remains in place this morning, and are continuing with their inquiries.
A Met Police spokesman said: ‘Police were called at 19:10hrs on Thursday, 5 December after a 14-year-old girl was allegedly raped in Chestnuts Park in Haringey.
‘The victim was allegedly approached by a man who tried to engage her in conversation before raping her. The victim later alerted a family member who called police.
‘There have been no arrests. A crime scene is in place and enquiries continue.’
