Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were dealt a “brutal reality check” when their HRH titles were removed online, a royal expert has claimed.
Express.co.uk reported the Duke and Duchess of Sussexes HRH titles were removed from the Royal Family’s website, with Harry now referred to as just ‘The Duke’.
Their portraits have also been moved all the way down to the bottom of the profile page on the website, flanked by the Dukes of Kent and Gloucester rather than Prince William and Kate, the Princess of Wales.
While Buckingham Palace said the revisions were just housekeeping, royal expert Richard Kay called the move “brutal”.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Kay said: “For it was surely no coincidence that the Prince’s arrival in the Far East coincided with the brutal reality check administered by Buckingham Palace about his status — and that of his wife, Meghan — in the new‑look Royal Family.”
The expert then added that sources close to the monarch claim the royals are furious at “sustained” attacks from the Sussexes.
“A visceral bitterness persists at the sustained attacks that Harry and Meghan have waged against family members through his memoir and their various television interviews,” he said.
“In such a highly charged atmosphere, there was resentment that elements of the Duke and Duchess’s previous lives were allowed to remain unaltered, as though they were still somehow part of ‘the Firm.’”

Author Robert Jobson, who penned Diana: Closely Guarded Secret, also told Daily Express US, that the HRH snub “is just another example of The King allowing the dust to settle”.
He said: “There is zero communication between father and second son, he has made enemies of William and Camilla, even Catherine.
“If Harry was in any doubt he was out, that website update has left him in no doubt.
“The move to strip them – or technically not allow usage of – the Sussex title was right.
“It wasn’t vindictive, just clear, proper ands right – if a little slow, but that’s the palace for you and all this ‘new-fangled technology’.”

Buckingham Palace told Express.co.uk in response to our original story: “The Royal Family website contains over five thousand pages of information about the life and work of the Royal Family.
“Following the death of Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, content has been revisited and updated periodically. Some content may be out of date until this process is complete.”
It comes after an insider said Meghan “moved on” from royal drama and wants to focus on raising Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
Speaking to People magazine, they said: “It seems she has kind of moved on now. They have moved continents.
“They have set up a new life with their kids.”
