Prior to breaking the internet on Thursday with their visit to the One World Trade Centre, Harry and Meghan enjoyed a night out in the city that never sleeps on Wednesday. Staying at the Carlyle Hotel during their three-day trip, the couple was spotted having a drink at the hotel’s own Bemelmans Bar.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex arrived at the hotel with a security vehicle fleet that included “ten cars and about 20 guards”, according to MailOnline.

The security professionals then “took over tables around” Harry and Meghan as they chatted with a couple of friends.

Several people who saw them at the sophisticated piano bar said the couple went for martinis before leaving three hours later through the back door.

The next morning, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex started their three-day program with a visit to the One World Trade Centre with New York City mayor Bill de Blasio and governor of New York State Kathy Hochul.

Asked by a reporter if they were enjoying their trip to New York, Meghan smiled and replied: “It’s wonderful to be back, thank you.”

The Sussexes posed for photographs in the observatory at the top of the skyscraper against a panoramic backdrop.

The point of this trip is for them to attend the Global Citizen Live event taking place all over the world this weekend.

Celebrities like BTS, Coldplay, Ed Sheeran, Sir Elton John, Jennifer Lopez, Kylie Minogue, Metallica and Shawn Mendes are scheduled to perform to raise awareness on a worldwide vaccine equity policy.

Global Citizen, the event’s organiser, is urging leaders to help end the Covid pandemic by easing access to vaccines everywhere.

The couple has already collaborated with Global Citizens, an organisation working against poverty and climate change, earlier this year when they became co-chairs of its VAX LIVE concert.

A 24-hour broadcast will be staged not only in Central Park but also in many other cities like London and Lagos.

The Sussexes are expected to make an appearance on the stage in New York’s Central Park.
