The Duke and Duchess of Sussex flew into the Nice on their 12 seater Cessna plane, just days after travelling to Ibiza and then back to London. The royals flight to France had a carbon footprint of three tons, chucking outseven times the emissions per person compared to a commercial flight. More than 20 planes leave London for the sunny coastal region of Nice every Wednesday, with tickets available for just a couple of hundred pounds.
But the couples’ private jet cost up to £20,000 as the couple maintain their desperate need for privacy.
Just weeks ago, Prince Harry was seen on a gas-guzzling super yacht as he attended Google’s eco summit in Sicily.
He delivered a passionate speech about the need to save the planet, despite staying on a boat which pumped out three tons of dangerous carbon dioxide chemicals each hour.
The environmentalists have long backed eco causes, with Prince Harry last week saying the couple would only have two children for environmental reasons.
In the sit down chat with environmentalist Jane Goodall, the Prince admitted his love for nature and how he hoped this generation could leave something behind for the next.
The group also championed environmental concerns through their Instagram account in July, promoting climate change activists and eco-warrior Greta Thunberg, who is travelling to speak at a UN conference on an environmentally friendly sailing boat.
In the post, the couple said: “We are jeopardising this beautiful place we call home – for ourselves and for future generations.
“Let’s save it. Let’s do our part.”
The Prince added: “Environmental damage has been treated as a necessary by-product of economic growth.
“Only now are we starting to notice and understand the damage that we’ve been causing.
“With nearly 7.7billion people inhabiting this Earth, every choice, every action makes a difference.”
But many have hit back against the couple’s double standards approach after a string of incidents involving emission busting trips.

Meghan took a private jet from New York to London after her lucrative baby shower, while Harry hired a private helicopter for two UK based engagements days after appealing to tackle climate issues.
ITV host Piers Morgan hit back against the couple, tweeting: “Is this the same Harry who uses helicopters to go from London to Birmingham and whose wife uses celebrity mates’ private jets to cross the Atlantic?”
Just months ago it was revealed the royal family’s travel emissions rose by 98 percent.
This year the family’s total CO2 emissions for business travel was 3,344 tonnes, up on 1,687 tonnes last year.
The royals greenhouse gas emissions increased by 3 percent, after cuts in energy consumption from heating and lighting.
The family only enjoyed one overseas trip using a large fixed-wing aircraft in 2017-2018, but this increased to five this year.
Prince Charles and Camilla used the most as they visited exotic destinations such as the Caribbean and Africa on behalf of the Queen.
The Prince of Wales has long backed eco causes himself, with his official website claiming the future King lives sustainably.
It reads: “As well as promoting sustainability through his work, His Royal Highness has taken many steps personally to live in a more sustainable way.
“Around half of his office and domestic energy use comes from renewable sources such as woodchip boilers, air source heat pumps, solar panels and green electricity.”
