HGV driver dies in crash with three army trucks as UK gridlocked in petrol shortage

In a statement Derbyshire Constabulary, said: “The incident, which occurred on the northbound stretch of the road close to Mickleover at 1.45pm yesterday (29 September), involved three army trucks and an HGV.

“The driver of the HGV, a 53-year-old man, sustained serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the Queen’s Medical Centre later that same day.

“His family are aware, and our thoughts are with them at this time.

“Detectives investigating the incident are appealing for any drivers with dashcam footage, in particular of the moments leading up to the incident, to get in touch.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Derbyshire police using any of the below methods, including reference 21*566586.”
