The two-hour programme is scheduled to be broadcast on CBS on Sunday evening, but a new poll has shown eight in 10 people think it should be postponed out of respect for Philip, 99. The Duke of Edinburgh was admitted to hospital two weeks ago suffering from an infection and was transferred to a different hospital for tests on his pre-existing heart condition on Monday.

Buckingham Palace said he “remains comfortable and is responding to treatment”.

The Queen’s husband is expected to stay at St Bartholomew’s Hospital in central London “until at least the end of the week,” the palace said.

As royal fans prepare for Harry and Meghan’s tell-all with Oprah in less than a week, Express.co.uk conducted an exclusive poll asking readers if they thought the programme should be shown while Philip lies in a hospital bed.

Eighty-six percent (4,825) said the CBS special should be delayed due to the circumstances.

Just 13 percent (745) said the US network should go ahead with the broadcast, expected to rake in millions of viewers.

And only one percent (69) said they didn’t know.

In comments, some readers said it would not look right for the Sussexes’ first post-Megxit interview to be shown while Harry’s grandfather is unwell.

One person said: “At a time when the country is facing its worst crisis since the Second World War, lives lost, jobs lost, people fighting for their lives, these two individuals are just hell bent on destroying the Royal Family, have no compassion for anyone, but themselves.

“The Queen in her hour of need dealing with a very sick husband, needing the support of loved ones, has been treated so disrespectful by these two selfish people.

“Their titles should go now.”

Another reader suggested the current circumstances are reason enough to have the interview “wiped” altogether.

They wrote: “This interview which I gather has already been filmed should be wiped, and if Harry had even one sympathetic bone in his body he would insist on this.”

They also suggested CBS should not air the chat out of respect for the Queen, even if Harry gave the green light.

The reader added: “The whole thing is in bad taste and Harry, Meghan, Oprah and CBS should hang their heads in shame.”

Other argued that it may be in Oprah’s best interests to delay the programme while the Queen’s husband is laid up.

They said if it went ahead it may damage her reputation as a leading US chat show host.

One said: “Harry and Meghan will never delay the interview, they did the interview.

“Oprah will delay it because if something happened nobody will watch her show.”

The poll ran from 5.45pm on March 1 to 10am on March 2. A total of 5,639 readers took part.

On Monday the palace released an update on the duke’s condition.

The statement read: “The Duke of Edinburgh was today transferred from King Edward VII’s Hospital to St Bartholomew’s Hospital where doctors will continue to treat him for an infection, as well as undertake testing and observation for a pre-existing heart condition.

“The duke remains comfortable and is responding to treatment but is expected to remain in hospital until at least the end of the week.”
