Kate Middleton sends message of support to America’s Cup team
Ageing senior members of the Royal Family and Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s departure could have a direct impact on Kate and William’s children, royal commentator Daniela Elser said. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are the youngest senior royals, the expert noted, and among the most popular.
This means the weight of keeping the Royal Family interesting and beloved throughout the UK and the Commonwealth will largely fall on their shoulders after the Queen dies, the expert wrote.
But to continue to attract the fascination of millions of royal fans, as well as be able to carry out the hundreds of engagements the Royal Family takes on every year, the Cambridges may need the help of their three children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, Ms Elser added.
She wrote: “The palace needs the public to buy into the concept of a monarchy, which is why any growing disinterest is so dangerous for them.
“And it’s here that things get particularly rough for Kate, because it is going to fall to her and William to revive our flagging interest in the Royal “Family, a challenge that is going to only get that much steeper when the Queen, who is widely beloved, passes away and King Charles III takes the throne.

She wrote in news.com.au: “She could also face the prospect of potentially having to put three children ‘to work’ much sooner than she might like.
“Royal kids are normally very gradually introduced to working royal life, slowly building up their own solo engagements.
“William didn’t undertake his first independent official outing until he was 23-years-old, a luxury that his son Prince George may not enjoy.
“To shore up public support for the Royal Family, they will need all hands on the royal deck and the palace will have to deploy their most beguiling and adorable assets, namely, the Cambridge Three.”
Kate and Prince William have made clear they intend to give their children a childhood as normal as possible.
While they chose to take both Prince George and Princess Charlotte on three royal tours abroad with them, the Cambridges have striven to shield their children from too much public attention.
Prince George and Princess Charlotte waited until 2019 to attend Christmas Day service at St Mary Magdalene Church in Sandringham alongside with other members of the Royal Family.
Kate and William were said to have delayed Prince George’s first royal Christmas until his sister was old enough to attend the cheerful but crowded walkabout outside the church, where dozens of fans gather to catch a glimpse of the royals.
Prince Louis, two, has so far only attended the Trooping the Colour parade in 2019 and a special Pantoland show last week at the London Palladium.
In her analysis of the future of the Royal Family, Ms Elser pointed out Meghan and Harry were not just two more members of the family sharing the royal workload – which on normal years amount to some 2000 engagements.
They also attracted the interest of people who would have normally not been interested in the Royal Family, Ms Elser said.
She wrote: “Meghan Markle, actress, blogger and activist, brought with her an innate vivifying force that energised the Royal Family’s brand.
“By lending her youthful verve and California cool to the House of Windsor she made the very notion of a hereditary monarchy seem not only interesting but relevant to younger generations.”
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex officially stepped down as senior royals on March 31, two months after announcing their intention to carve out progressive new roles for themselves within the institution.
Over the past few months, the pair have struck two important deal with Spotify and Netflix, believed to be worth millions.
They have also worked with charities and organisations on issues they care about, such as mental health, voter registration in the US and social media.
The Sussexes are also gearing up ahead of the launch of the much-anticipated Archewell Foundation, which is set to be their main charitable platform.
