Kate has been hailed for the work she has carried out in recent months. The latest initiatives, which follow years of work behind the scenes, to develop her knowledge and work in different fields, show how “confident and thriving” the Duchess is.

Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams told Express.co.uk: “There is no question that Catherine is extremely confident and thriving.

“It has been a period where she has been active in her charitable roles, such as her launching of the Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood, a field she has made her speciality.

“Her interest in photography led to her Hold Still Photography Project, a portrait of the nation during the pandemic which was an excellent idea.

“When she played the piano at the Carol Concert at Westminster Abbey which she hosted, she delighted her audience and viewers on ITV too.”

Referring to Kate’s appearances on red carpets held throughout 2021, Mr Fitzwilliams said: “Also, she has worn several iconic outfits in the past year.”

Considering her poise, commitment to the Crown and work, the commentator said the the Duchess is perfect in her current role and those to come.

He said: “She is perfection in her role, which in time will be Princess of Wales and one day will be Queen Consort.

“She and William work together wonderfully well as a team.”

Kate is set to become Princess of Wales at the end of the Queen’s reign.

When Prince William becomes King, she will assume the title of Queen Consort.

Mr Fitzwilliams also looked at the months ahead when, he believes, Kate and William will be among the most sought after members of the Firm.

Speaking of 2022, he said: “An exciting year, when hopefully trips abroad can be arranged as the Cambridges are the royals most in demand, beckons.”

Kate is turning 40 on Sunday and is expected to celebrate this milestone privately with her loved ones.

However, Mr Fitzwilliams said there may be a release of a never-before-seen photograph of the Duchess to let the public be part of her special day.

He said: “Her 40th birthday is likely to be celebrated privately.

“Covid restrictions remain in place, this means that it is likely to be scaled down and she reportedly didn’t want a large celebration anyway.

“A new photograph is expected to be released.”

Last year, Kate turned 39 in the midst of the third national lockdown.

Kensington Palace did not share a new picture of the future Queen Consort but, rather, chose to use a picture taken during a royal engagement carried out by Kate in 2020.

This picture, showing the Duchess waving to well-wishers, was accompanied by a message acknowledging the extraordinary times created by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

It read: “Thank you for your kind wishes on The Duchess’ birthday.

“Birthdays have been very different in recent months, and our thoughts continue to be with all those working on the front line at this hugely challenging time.”

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were last spotted in public on Christmas Day, which they spent at their Norfolk home Anmer Hall.

They were photographed leaving St Mary Magdalene Church by car after attending the traditional Christmas Day service with their three children, George, Charlotte and Louis.

The Cambridges were joined in Norfolk by key members of Kate’s family – including her parents Carole and Michael Middleton.
