Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, 39, and Prince William’s spectacular royal wedding on April 29, 2011, remains etched in the minds of royal fans everywhere. Now ten years down the line, the Cambridges’ roles within the monarchy have ramped up over the past 18 months as the number of senior royals decreased dramatically following Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s departure from the Firm and Prince Andrew’s withdrawal from royal life.

As Kate and William prepare to become Queen Consort and King of Britain one day, there is a chance the Queen could acknowledge the couple with special new honours to mark their 10th wedding anniversary.

In 2019 Kate was made Dame Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order (GCVO) by the Queen in acknowledgement of her and William’s 8th wedding anniversary and one royal expert has suggested the Duchess could be given another honour.

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told “Kate was made a Dame Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order by the Queen on her wedding anniversary two years ago.”

Mr Fitzwilliams said:  “In 2017 she was appointed a member of the Royal Family Order which is bestowed on female members of the Royal Family and is also in the gift of the Queen.”

“One day she will, I feel sure, aspire to the membership of the Order of the Garter and of the Thistle, its Scottish equivalent.

He added: “On the tenth anniversary of their marriage, the Queen’s appreciation of her efforts will undoubtedly be profound.”

How the Queen may choose to recognise the couple on their anniversary remains to be seen but it seems certain the Cambridges will mark the milestone in their own way on social media.

Kate is a keen amateur photographer and last week shared an adorable new picture of Prince Louis to celebrate his third birthday.

Royal fans are hopeful Kate and William may release new photos to celebrate their anniversary which falls a few days before their daughter Princess Charlotte’s sixth birthday.

Cambridge supports have already shared their excitement at the prospect of new pictures on social media.

One fan tweeted: “I’ve just realised we only have nine days to go until Princess Charlotte’s 6th birthday!

“And that’s only three days after William and Catherine’s 10th wedding anniversary!! Guys the next ten days are going to be GOOD.”

Another wrote: “Be prepared for another pic to be released on W&C anniversary, and/or Princess Charlotte’s birthday.”

A third chimed in: “Expect more photos on Catherine & William’s wedding anniversary. Also, photos on Princess Charlotte’s birthday.”

As their anniversary falls on a school day, Kate and William are likely to spend it in London where George and Charlotte go to school and Louis attends nursery.

But the family could travel to their country residence Anmer Hall at the weekend where Kate is said to feel most at home and where she chooses to celebrate her birthday every year.

Given that it’s Princess Charlotte’s birthday on Sunday, William and Kate could combine their anniversary celebrations with a special party for their daughter.
