Kate Middleton touted as ‘backbone’ of Cambridge royals in latest Christmas card

Kate Middleton and Prince William: Public discuss royal’s visit

Kate and Prince William’s Christmas card shows them and their children sitting on haystacks next to piles of firewood, with the snap believed to have been taken at Anmer Hall in Norfolk. While the family picture has not yet been circulated officials, body language expert Judi James said the leaked image shows off the strength of the Cambridge family. It comes after William and Kate finished off their nationwide tour in support of frontline workers for their efforts during the coronavirus pandemic.

Speaking to FEMAIL, Ms James highlighted how the Duchess makes the rest of the royal family seem more confident.

She said: “The confident body language signals in this group pose come from one end, with both Kate and Charlotte sitting upright, throwing direct and almost (in Charlotte’s case) challenging eye-gazes at the camera.

“This level gaze looks the most royal, too. Kate looks like the undisputed backbone of the family unit.

“She has one brow raised at the outside edge in what looks like a gesture of ironic amusement, as though she gets that the photographer is pulling stunts to make the boys laugh.”

Kate has been praised for her parenting and her efforts supporting front-line workers throughout the year, with royal experts noting the Duchess has undertaken a “big shift”.

When the Cambridge royals met with Sir David Attenborough for the launch of William’s Earthshot prize, royal expert Victoria Arbiter said the couple were “empowering” their children early on.

In November, when Kate launched her own “legacy project” with the Royal Foundation tackling childhood inequality, royal journalist Camilla Tominey added in the Telegraph: “For having entered royal life in her husband’s shadow almost a decade ago, the 38-year-old quickly realised that she both wanted and needed a ‘legacy’ project of her own.

“Determined to do something by herself, in the vein of Diana, Princess of Wales’s work on AIDS and Prince Charles’s environmentalism, Kate quickly found that her passion lay in finding out the reasons for adult trauma.”

William and Kate’s leaked Christmas card was spotted by royal fans and shared by Facebook page Royalty 101.

The card was addressed to “all the amazing NHS staff” with a heartfelt message wishing them a “very happy Christmas and new year”.

Hello! magazine reported the Duke included a handwritten note to frontline workers, underlining how thankful he is for their service.

He said: “We can never thank you again for all the dedication and sacrifice you have had to make this year. We will be forever grateful.”

William and Kate have been constantly paying tribute to NHS and care staff throughout the year, with their UK wide tour seeing them lavish praise onto frontline workers for bravery.

Royal insiders spoke to the Telegraph about how the couple “are taking it upon themselves to keep the nation’s spirit up”.

They added: “What this year has done has reinforced the value of the Royal Family as natural actors of state.

“They are not celebrities – they are there, effectively, to thank people on the public’s behalf.”
