Kate, Princess of Wales, has been pictured in a touching gesture of support for her young daughter Princess Charlotte, who took part in a state funeral for the first time in her life. The mother-of-three placed a reassuring hand on the back of her seven-year-old daughter, who looked all grown up in a hat for the Queen’s state funeral.

Princess Kate was also pictured holding hands with her daughter when they arrived for the procession which saw the Queen’s coffin being taken from Westminster Hall to Westminster Abbey.

Princess Charlotte travelled to Westminster Abbey in the same car as her mother, the Princess of Wales, her brother Prince George and Queen Consort, Camilla.
