A man has triggered a security scare by running in front of King Charles’ car.

Footage shows the man running alongside the Rolls Royce on the A40 in west London before he suddenly dashes in front of traffic.

Sitting in the front seat, a protection officer appears to react to the danger and seemingly alerts a security team following in a Range Rover behind.

Two royal bodyguards open their passenger doors on the road, ready to spring into action and tackle the man to the ground.

But it appears all he wanted was a photo of the historic moment.

He gets out his phone to record the car as it slowly passes by, letting the security team breathe a huge sigh of relief.

Charles was en route to RAF Northolt outside the capital, where he is flying to Scotland before leading a procession behind the Queen’s coffin as it makes its way along the Royal Mile.
