King Charles, in particular, is said to have been deeply affected by the ongoing feud that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have with the rest of the Royal Family. According to royal author Christopher Andersen, Charles feels particularly “betrayed” by his younger son and daughter-in-law.

“If you remember [Harry and Meghan’s wedding], how Charles took [Meghan’s mother] to sign the guest book and [he] walked Meghan up the last half of the aisle.

“He really was very fond of [Meghan].

“I think he’s, somewhat, bewildered.”

He added: “The Queen was used to handling this kind of thing, I don’t think it threw her as much as it has thrown Charles.

“[and] understandably so, it’s his son and daughter-in-law who has, kind of, said some pretty hurtful things.”

A source recently told The Telegraph that Charles saw “tremendous flickers of hope” while the Sussexes were in the UK last month.

The source added that Charles “loves both of his children”.

In 2018, when Meghan’s father was unable to attend the royal wedding due to ill health, Charles stepped in to walk Harry’s bride down the last half of the aisle.

After the wedding, according to Entertainment Tonight, Harry revealed: “I asked him to and I think he knew it was coming.

“He immediately said, ‘Yes, of course, I’ll do whatever Meghan needs and I’m here to support you”.

Prince Harry slammed for 'developing his own truth' by Levin

Almost two years after their wedding day, Meghan and Harry announced that they planned to step down as senior royals.

The couple decared, in the statement on their official Instagram account, that they wanted to “work to become financially independent”.

The couple have since settled stateside with their two young children, Archie and Lilibet.

Since their royal exit, the couple have made various accusations towards the Royal Family, heightening tensions between the couple and the rest of the family.

In 2021, during their tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey, Harry described feeling “trapped” by life in The Firm.

He also added that whilst he was able to get out, his elder brother William and father, Charles did not have this freedom.

Speaking on a past episode of Royally Us, royal biographer Robert Jobson claimed that William and Charles were “very angry” with Harry’s comments.

Mr Jobson said: “I think Harry was putting words into his father and his brother’s mouths, and maybe making an assessment based upon his feelings”.
