The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise is one of the UK’s most prestigious business awards. The awarding body has now praised adult retailer Lovehoney for “outstanding and continuous growth”. The company has been very successful and recently had international sales reaching £56million.

One of the privileges of winning the award is that Lovehoney can now fly the Queen’s Awards flag at their main office.

The company will also be able to use Her Majesty’s emblem across their packaging and advertising.

Lovehoney sells lingerie, personal grooming and eco-conscious, intimate toys.

The company also gives sex advice on its blog and podcast.

The company was founded by Richard Longhurst in his bedroom in 2002.

It now has a customer base of 2.2 million people, and 300 employees.

The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise was first formed by a committee chaired by the Duke of Edinburgh in 1965.

Originally known as the Queen’s Awards to Industry, this year’s other winners included London’s Luminary Bakery and The Community Shop in South Yorkshire.

Debbie Bond, Lovehoney’s Chief Commercial Officer, said: “We are thrilled to have received official recognition from the Queen.

“Her Majesty has been a wonderful supporter of Lovehoney as we have grown into being the world’s leading sexual wellness brand.

“Royal patronage will help us to create more jobs at our Bath headquarters and in our international offices and spread the sexual happiness message globally.

“The Queen is the UK’s greatest trade ambassador.

“A royal approval shows again how mainstream shoppers and retail outlets are embracing sexual wellness products as never before.

“It also shows how they are appreciating their importance in improving overall well-being.

“This is a particularly important message as we come out of lockdown after a stressful year living with the pandemic.”

The Queen’s Awards are given out every April.
