Leicester Square lockdown: Buildings evacuated as suspected gas leak causes havoc

Cordons are currently in place at London’s Leicester Square due to a suspected gas leak.  Emergency services are attending the scene and are managing the incident. 

A number of buildings in the area have been evacuated as a precautionary measure. 

The square is currently closed to pedestrians. 

Police have asked the public to avoid the area.
