In videos and photos posted to social media, the protestors were pictured gathering and marching without face masks on. The protestors, holding banners and chanting “freedom”, are marching through central London. Those in attendance are protesting against coronavirus lockdowns and vaccine passports.

One banner read: “Love not fear. Freedom not tyranny.”

Another poster said: “Freedom is not a privilege it’s a right.”

A third said: “We’re the ones you failed to fool!”

Police have introduced a dispersal zone from 3pm this afternoon.

The area covers popular areas in Hackney, including Gillet Square, Bradbury Street and Kingsland Road.

The dispersal order means police can ask the public to leave the locality and not return for the period specified.

It is not yet known if the measures coincide with the lockdown protest taking place.
